Zoldy's Guitar View · Updated October 9, 2026
What the extension uses
Zoldy's Guitar View reads song text on Ultimate Guitar to display it in a fullscreen layout. When you select a song in its playlist drawer, it requests that song's Ultimate Guitar page to load its text sheet. When you open the drawer, it can request discovered playlist pages to load their missing song links. It does not bypass sign-in, subscription or other access restrictions.
The extension reads playlist pages you open on Ultimate Guitar and saves playlist names, song titles, artist names, song/playlist links, capture timestamps and the currently selected playlist on your device. It also saves colour and chorus highlight preferences and a temporary record of the song link you clicked from a playlist. Full song text is used in memory during viewing and is not saved in the extension's local storage.
Where data goes
Saved extension data stays in Chrome's local extension storage. The extension does not use Chrome Sync, analytics, advertising trackers or a developer-operated server. It does not send your playlists, song text, account credentials or browsing history to the developer.
In builds with live playlist recovery, selecting an unloaded playlist can reuse an open Ultimate Guitar playlist tab or temporarily open that playlist in a background tab. The extension reads its song rows after the page finishes loading, using the existing browser session. A temporary tab closes after the attempt if you have not selected it or navigated it elsewhere. Existing tabs are not closed. Sign-in and other access controls remain in effect.
Requests for song and playlist pages go to Ultimate Guitar over HTTPS. These requests can use your existing Ultimate Guitar session, so its access controls and privacy policy apply. The extension does not read or store your password or authentication cookies.
Feedback and support
A feedback report contains the extension version and only the information you enter. Copy report copies it locally. Send by email opens a draft addressed to zoldy2@gmail.com in your configured email app. You review the draft and choose Send in that app. Reports are never sent automatically. No playlist, account data or browsing history is attached automatically. For long reports, the full text is copied locally for you to paste into the draft. Screenshots can be added by you in your email app.
Your email app and email provider handle delivery under their own policies. The developer's inbox is hosted by Gmail, so Google's privacy policy applies to its processing. The recipient can see the address you send from and anything you include in the email. Reports received by the developer are used for support and improvements. Avoid private account information or private song links. An optional external feedback page has its own policies. The support address is public and included in the extension.
Optional support links open an external payment website only when you click them. That website and its payment providers handle payment information under their own policies. The extension does not collect payment details. Its features remain free whether or not you contribute.
Retention and your controls
Saved playlist links and display preferences remain on your device until you clear them or remove the extension. Song text is held in memory while viewing and is cleared when you leave the viewer. You can clear saved playlists from the Help page. Open playlist pages can capture them again. Removing the extension removes its local extension data from that Chrome profile. Theme and highlight settings can be changed in the viewer.
Feedback reports are retained as needed to investigate the issue, respond and improve the extension. Email providers may retain messages according to their policies and account settings. You may request deletion of a report through the project contact option; include enough information to identify your submission.
Permissions and limited use
Ultimate Guitar website access is used to render song sheets and read playlists. The storage permission saves your preferences and playlist links. The extension requests no browsing history, cookies, payment or unrelated website permissions.
The use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Information is used for the extension's disclosed song-viewing and playlist features, not advertising or data sales.
Project website
The project website is hosted by Cloudflare. When you visit it, Cloudflare processes connection and request information, which may include your IP address and browser or network details, to deliver and protect the website. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for its handling of that information.
The site's supplied pages contain no analytics scripts, advertising trackers, embedded payment forms or sign-in requirement. Contact links open your email app. Support links, when configured, open the external support provider. Information you send by email is handled as described above.
